1994

In April of 1994, the band broadcast a massive St. Louis concert live on air at their own expense, and offered the slot to any radio station with the technology to pick it up.
Half way through the show, Eddie started singing a string of songs with words that wouldn't have been seen acceptable to the general listening public, who were probably loving every minute of it. :)

Later on, at one show in Miami were over 2000 fans were locked outside the venue, which led to a near riot when they realized there was no getting in.

By the time this tour had reached it's climax, Pearl Jam had confirmed their position as the largest rock band in the world.

After the death of Kurt Cobain, Eddie seriously consided giving up the band.
They appeared just days after on Saturday night Live, and at the end of the show, Eddie came back on-stage with a shirt with the letter K scrawled next to his heart.

On the same show, a new song called Not For You was played, and later, Eddie dedicated that song to Kurt.

The song it's self was off a new album, called Vitalogy.
